This month as I reflected on myself as the mother, I had been. I was reminded of something I heard last year. The definition of mother from someone who was not a mother yet. But in her observations, she had determined that…a mother is SACRFICE.
In those words, for me came the true meaning of Mother. Accepting the role of mother is sacrifice. For we make a commitment, no matter what, to care for our child for the rest of our lives. To take it to the next step, becoming a relative caregiver is the Ultimate Motherhood sacrifice. For you have agreed to a life time commitment, to a child you did not give birth to. So, as this month passes, I want you to take this thought with you in the coming months. Keep in mind in moments of overwhelm, I want you to feel uplifted by the praise and gratitude we have for you. The appreciation, the child feels for you. And especially, the self-gratitude and self-care, you give to yourself. Realize the courage it took to take on the role you have accepted. The caring for and about the life of a child who is not yours. This acknowledgement of yourself will strengthen your resolve as you care for your family day to day.
